David
T. Plaxico, MD, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Wofford
College. He earned his Medical Degree from Medical University of
South Carolina and completed his internship at Vanderbilt University
Hospital. After serving as General Medical Officer &
Pediatrician in the US Army at West Point, N.Y., Dr. Plaxico
completed his residency at the University of Florida Medical Center.
He then completed a fellowship in Pediatric/Adult Allergy &
Immunology at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Plaxico
established the Allergy & Asthma Clinic of Macon in 1981 to
evaluate and treat children and adults with the full realm of
allergic/immunologic diseases.
Dr. Plaxico is board-certified
and a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma &
Immunology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is
an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Mercer Medical
School in Macon. Dr. Plaxico is a member of the American Academy of
Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, the American College of Allergy,
Asthma & Immunology, the Southeastern Allergy Society, the
Allergy & Immunology Society of Georgia, plus the Bibb County
Medical Association. Dr.
Plaxico has also served as a Board of Director for the American Lung
Association. He is also a regional teaching consultant for several
Pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Plaxico is married and
has two adult children and has lived in Macon since 1981. Other than
his professional commitments, he is strongly connected to Macon with
his volunteer activities. He has served on the troop and district
levels for the Boy Scouts of America and continues to serve on the
executive board for the Central Georgia Council, BSA. In recognition
for his BSA volunteer efforts, Dr. Plaxico received the District
Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. He is also on the
administrative board for Vineville Methodist Church. He is a
volunteer for the Friends of the Library and the Christmas in April
Building project.
Dr. Plaxico enjoys
fly-fishing, quail hunting, photography, traveling,
tennis, and jogging for leisure activities.
Dr. Plaxico and his
staff's primary effort is to help other people by offering the most
up to date and comprehensive evaluation for children and adults with
allergic diseases. We are willing to expend our time and effort to
